Altair Inspire Form 2019.1 Release Notes
Altair Inspire Form 2019.1 includes the following new features and enhancements.
New Features
- Webhosted Help
- Online Help, hosted by Altair, links you to the most recent help topics, tutorials and product information. Altair Inspire Form also includes an installed version of the Help.
- Publish Reports
- After running a simulation, the Publish Reports tool lets you select simulation results of interest, capture images of the forming process, and create a report as a .pdf file. The report is saved to your run history directory.
- Symmetry Boundary Condition
- This boundary condition enables efficient analysis through the use of symmetry planes in the forming operation.
- Video Recording
- You can now capture videos in addition to still images. This feature is available in the File menu under Screen Capture. Videos can be saved in .gif and .mp4 format.
New Features: Tryout
- Guide Pins
- Guide pins are a new option available from the Tools dialog. When configuring a tool set, you can add guide pins to precisely position the blank between the top and bottom dies during a forming operation.
- Trimming
-
The trimming operation now supports cutting along the surface of a formed part. This feature is particularly useful for simulating trimming with tools such as lasers. The default direction is based on the average normal.
Each trim/pierce line is independently associated with a direction that is auto-calculated and modifiable. When a trim/pierce line is assigned, an arrow appears for each line indicating a direction for the trimming and piercing process. Previously the direction of each trim/pierce line was associated with the direction defined in the trimming operation.
- Die Compensation
-
This feature, also known as springback compensation, lets you leverage a springback analysis and make adjustments to the tools to counter the known springback. Modifying the tool set to counter springback during the simulation phase of the design cycle can substantially reduce manufacturing costs.
For best results, after running the die compensation feature, review the results of the compensated die and modify the compensated surface data accordingly. You can perform several iterations in this fashion, but always clean up the compensated surface data before repeating the die compensation process.
- Materials Parameters: Yield Criterion
- Three Yield Criterion options have been added: von Mises, Hill 1948, and Barlat 3 parameter. For Barlat 3 parameter, you can define the exponent value as 2, 4, 6 or 8.
- Friction Boundary Condition
- A new option to define Coulomb's friction is available for each tool in the microdialog.
Enhancements: Mouse Controls
- Modifying Mouse Controls
- You can now modify the mouse controls in the Preferences.
- Mouse Control for Turntable Rotation
- The default mouse control is now Shift + middle mouse drag.
